Me and fiance are about to get married. In our state you don't have to be married for a certain time to go through with a step parent adoption. Well my fiance wants to adopt my 3 year old child. I had court with bio dad yesterday due to him not paying child support again. He told the judge he hasn't had contact with me in years so he didn't want me knowing any of his information. Literally our child is 3 and June will make 2 years since he has had contact or visitation. Does anyone have an information on step parent adoption? I know I can either get his permission or fight him on it but again we haven't spoken in almost 2 years so how would I even go about asking him because to me its awkward. He scares the crap out of me and always wants to argue being very demeaning to me. Help please.
