Withdrawal method?

I used the withdrawal method for the first time last week with my be instead of condoms a week after my period. Is this safe method? I'm really worried I'm pregnant!

I know a bunch of people have gotten pregnant with withdraw method. My husband and I used it for many years successfully though. He made sure to pull out long before he came and finished himself elsewhere lol ....but we knew we were both clean of std's and knew that if a baby were to be made that financially and stability wise we were ready. So if you aren't...I would go back to using condoms :) condoms will always be safer than the withdraw method. Especially with preventing std's

It's not very safe at all! There can be sperm in precum and he might not get out quick enough. A week after your period is pretty close to your fertile window if you have a normal 28-30 day cycle and sperm can live inside you for up to 5 days. There is a chance you are pregnant. If you don't want that I would suggest getting on birth control.

I've found withdraw to be most effective while also really tracking my ovulation. Sperm can live for 3-5 days, but because he didn't blow the full load, and there is little to no sperm in precum (it seems to depend if there are any leftover from a previous ejaculation), risk of pregnancy isn't TOO high, but I would recommend really doing your research and ovulation tracking to figure out if you still feel comfortable about pull out/continuing to use it and not a condom.

It is not a safe method. There are the obvious risks of STI's that come with not using a barrier, but it's also a very unreliable method of pregnancy prevention. Small amounts of semen can be deposited before a man actually orgasms. Not to mention the control needed to withdraw before the big finish, it can be rather difficult to time it right every single time. If you  do not want to get pregnant, and you are not on some form of birth control, then you should be using condoms.
