Crazy birth of my baby Joseph!
On February 12 at 7:45 my water broke while I was making my plate for dinner but I wasn’t absolutely sure it was my water so I sat down and ate my dinner. I went to the bathroom to make sure my bladder was empty but the fluid kept coming out so I knew it was my water. We headed to the hospital and they did a swab test to make sure it was my water even though the nurse was pretty positive it was. It came back positive so I was admitted! I wasn’t having contractions so they decided that if didn’t start contracting they’d start me on pitocin in 4 hours. 3am rolls around and I’m still not contracting and I’m 3cm, so they started the pitocin at 6. At 12 my midwife said they’re putting me on a pitocin break and checked my cervix. I was still only 3cm but she found that I actually had a second water bag that hadn’t broken! So she broke the second bag. She said that if I’m not contracting consistently by 3:30 they’re going to start pitocin again. Well guess what, contractions still weren’t consistent even though they were much stronger. They put me back on pitocin and the contractions REALLY kicked in. By 7pm I couldn’t take it anymore. I wanted to go natural but that pitocin is a bitch and I needed that epidural. They said I was 8cm so I can get it! So they already had the orders in just in case and the anesthesiologist came to do the epidural. They had me sit up on the edge of the bed getting ready to put the epidural in and I started feeling like I needed to push. The nurse checked me again and said that I am very close to 10cm but i could still get the epidural. Well during my next contraction that all changed. That contraction pretty much made my baby boys head fly out. Within a few pushes and minutes I was holding my baby. On February 13, 2020 at 8:08pm I gave birth to an 8 lb 7 oz, 19 3/4 inch beautiful baby boy! Also got a 2nd degree tear but it’s all worth it for this handsome guy!
