Do you leave tip money for housekeeping during hotel stays?

I do when we travel internationally and visit resorts, but never do when we stay in the states. Just wondering what other people do.

I don’t but I also pick up after myself and don’t leave a ridiculous mess to clean up after I leave.

I worked as a receptionist in a hotel for a very long time. Housekeepers heavily rely on tips as their pay and hours are trash.

Absolutely. Never less than $20 but typically $10/night. And I clean completely and even strip the bed before I leave.

Heck yes. And when I’m done with my trip I leave the rest of my foreign cash as a tip on the last day. I worked as a hotel maid. It’s hard work, people can be awful, the pay sucks. I only did it for a few months, but there was women that did it for years because the tips supplemented their income.

Honestly, I didn’t know that was customary. I don’t leave a mess though. I know they have to vacuum and replace towels and change sheets, but that’s about the gist of it when my husband and I stay at a hotel. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Absolutely. Even though we always tidy before leaving a room (towels in tub, garbage in can, beds stripped), other people can be disgusting. I've been a housekeeper before and you see some nasty stuff -  it's hard work and the pay isn't always that great. It's nice to be recognized.

I'm a housekeeper. We do more then anyone in the hotel and gets paid the least. When I get tips it helps with gas money to get to work. It makes me feel blessed that someone thought about us.

No, but only because I had no idea until now:( I always make sure the place I leave isn’t messy but I have never left a tip. I will start from now on. I am a server and I know what its like to live off of tips.
