Help!! First time mom here. My daughter will be 1 month on the 19th, she is breastfed and does pretty good I think, she’s gaining weight how she should be as far as her last doctors appointment. She’ll sleep for about 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 hours varying between each time she sleeps, it’s not a set time each time. When she wakes up I change her then feed her, then she’s up for about a hour and a half but it seems like during that time that she’s up she just cries when she’s not on the boob, am I doing something wrong? Like I feed her then she’ll be ok for a couple of minutes then it’s her crying and me switching her from boob to boob, burping her, trying to play with or entertain/distract her to calm her down until she’s back tired and goes to sleep again.

Sounds like cluster feeding. My daughter nursed around the clock at that age. Like eight hours almost straight on some occasions. It’s normal!

No problem! Right around four weeks I also noticed I had an oversupply and overactive letdown. This was causing my daughter to get too much foremilk and not enough hindmilk (the stuff that fills her up). She would quench her thirst on the foremilk but not stay on long enough to fill up from the hindmilk because my letdown was giving it to her so fast. Because of this, she would come off and seem satisfied for maybe five minutes but then start rooting all over again. She was also very fussy and just didn’t even seem satisfied. I researched foremilk/hindmilk Imbalance to correct the problem. However I also saw a change in her poop when this happened. She had previously had the normal mustard seedy poop, but all of a sudden at this time it changed to green which is common with that kind of imbalanace. I would keep an eye on it just to see if this may be something you’re dealing with too. Don’t worry it’s easily fixed if it is!

My daughter just turned 1month today and you basically just described her. It used to be at night time which was terrible, but lately it’s been the morning. Barely sleeps and cries unless she’s on my boob.
