Willow & Spectra

Question

I’ve read it must be a million reviews on breast pumps (🤯)ow and what I’ve gathered is that a lot of women have two pumps. A portable one like willow and a more robust one like Spectra. Do any of y’all get away with JUST the Willow or do most of y’all think two is the way to go? My insurance doesn’t pay for any

I have the willow and the spectra. I’d get both. I’ve tried to use the willow pump several times and just can’t get it to work for me. I’ve tried countless “hacks,” inserts, watching videos, joined facebook groups for advice and cannot get it to work for me. I am very upset. the first time I used it, it cut my nipple and then made breastfeeding my daughter hard! the most I’ve gotten with willow is 1.8 ounces. my average pumping session with the spectra s2 is 4-5 ounces on left side and 5-7 ounces on right breast. the willow could only get out LESS THAN 2! I wish I would’ve never bought it! 
I am at 300 ounces in freezer at 3.5 weeks postpartum, this is the milk I had to bring to my moms bc I ran out of room!! 
I can’t walk around with the spectra but I can sit and fold clothes, eat lunch, or supervise baby doing tummy time while pumping with hands free pumping bra

Your insurance is required by law to provide you with a pump. I would be checking on that again and make sure you get someone who knows what they are talking about.

I have the Spectra 2. Was AMAZING but unfortunately only used for about 10 days before my milk supply dried out (it’s hereditary) so it’s been collecting dust in the closet. I‘ll be happy to give it away for free to a mom in need. The spectra is a closed system pump so it’s completely sanitized.

I have the spectra s2 and I love it. Never tried the other that you mentioned, but I’ve tried both spectra and Medela and the spectra is by far my favorite.

Personally I feel like the spectra make my nipples incredibly sore. I also have a medela and I don’t have any problems with that one. I also find the spectra bottles leak from the threads which is very disappointing.

I wouldn’t recommend it. It’s more expensive than medela but doesn’t worth it. Medela is the best.
