Do you think animals were abused during the filming of Milo and Otis?
Okay so I saw this movie as a kid and just remembered liking the animals and stuff so the other day I saw it was available on Netflix now so I put it on to watch with my daughter. I was seriously disturbed. There are multiple scenes where it appears that animals were harmed or at the very least put in harms way and in horrible situations.
Examples:
-a kitten plunged several feet off of a cliff into water
-a pug is “played” with by a bear cub although it is clear the pug is being mauled because of the difference in size
-a cat and snake fighting each other
-a kitten travelling down river in a cardboard box
These things may not sound so bad but seriously watch the scenes on YouTube. They’re disturbing.
Based on these being actual animals used for these stunts and the time the movie was made (1986) I really don’t see how animals would not have died during the making of the film. There’s no way none of the cats fell out of the box during the waterfall scene or river scene, it would be a miracle if the dog wasn’t hurt by the bear, etc.
I did try to do some research on this and apparently many people have the same thoughts as me but no ones ever been able to prove anything. For those who have seen the movie do you think animals were harmed during the making of this film? I personally won’t ever be watching it again because I found some of the scenes so hard to watch.
