Should i throw my own baby shower for my second baby?

So I have a 4 1/2 year old little boy￼ and this time we’re having a girl￼! So I kept pretty much everything knowing that one day we would have another baby. We have mostly all the furniture and stuff like that but we still need clothes and diapers and basics like that. 
No one has offered to throw me a baby shower and we would really like to have one since we’re having a different gender. I just feel kind of selfish or guilty (in a since) for having to throw my own￼￼￼￼￼￼ baby shower. Im just not sure what to do.

I don’t necessarily think it’s “selfish” as much as I think it ends up costing you more money than it’s worth. With food, decor etc. you could end up spending more money throwing the party than what you’d receive. That being said, don’t throw it for the gifts, throw it because you want to celebrate new baby!

I hosted my best friends shower for her. But now she has a new born and is a student. She wanted SO badly to host for me but obviously it’s not a good idea. She’s got more important things than plan a party. So then my sister and/or mom was going to fly in (across the country) to “host” for me. For a multitude of reasons, that fell through. Invites were already sent out and my only other best friend is in SC. Finally decided fuck it. I’m hosting my own shower. Pixar UP theme and all. I’ll even run the party games. I didn’t get the wedding I wanted. I didn’t get a honeymoon (yet). I didn’t get to announce it the way I wanted let alone when. I might not even get to hire someone for a maternity shoot. So yeah, FUCK IT. I’m hosting my own shower and it’s going to be BAD ASS. Spent 2.5 hrs making Kevin so she can stand guard over the chocolate fountain I bought. Screw the norm. Screw tradition. Pick a theme and go wild girl!!!!

Also, you call it a Sprinkle instead of a Shower since it’s just for a few things vs the normal everything’s haha

If you only need some of the basics, why not spend the money on that instead of hosting a shower for yourself? I am sure too that friends and family will buy you presents once your new baby arrives too!

Also have any type of party you want! Baby showers aren’t just for gifts but celebrating the baby itself! I’m doing a sip and see afterwards instead of any before baby parties this time around. That way people don’t feel pressured to buy anything and I can get all the annoying in never see you but want to see the baby’ visits out of the way and my son doesn’t feel pushed aside by everyone coming to see the baby day after day.

You may end up spending close to as much money on a sprinkle/shower as you would on the things you need. 
You could take what baby clothes you have to one of those shops like Once Upon A Child where they take your clothes in on credit that you can use to purchase new clothes. 
I don’t think it’s selfish to throw yourself a sprinkle, I mainly just get worried you won’t actually get the stuff you really need need - mainly just things people really wanted to buy bc they thought it was cute. But hey, it’s still fun to celebrate baby!
