Dyeing your hair in 3rd trimester? 🤷🏻‍♀️

My maternity shoot is in 2 weeks and my hair is... just a mess. Black on top, and the bottom half is a rusty brown and damaged. I really want to get my hair dyed a dark brown (I have naturally black hair) from root to tip to make it less messy looking... but  I see conflicting answers/opinions online about dyeing your hair at a salon during pregnancy. Some say not to, some say it’s fine. What do you think?

It's safe. I'm a hairdresser and I'm working as a colorist while pregnant. The only reason I dont dye my own hair, is because my exposure level is wayyyy higher than the average person. I have literally dyed ON/GYN hair while they themselves were pregnant lol. Make sure you are in a well ventilated area with plenty of fresh air, and follow manufacturers directions

Ive dyed my hair my whole pregnancy. Pink, brown, bleached it and then dyed it blonde. Its okay to do as long as you're in a ventilated area. And it's on my list of approved things from my obgyn. Think of it this way, hair stylists wouldn't keep their job at the salon while pregnant if it were unsafe 😇

You can do it. Literally all the people who say you can’t are getting advice from when you were literally dumping the most toxic chemicals on your head like in the 80’s. Color is much better made nowadays and processing time is shorter.

I’ve had my hair dyed and highlights through pregnancy after first trimester - doctor said very tiny amounts of chemicals sink into the skin - not enough to cause damage, just to make sure the room is well vented

I had dyed my hair through my pregnancies. I am considering to dye my hair dark again. I have highlights and its light brown. I would go to a professional and ask what brand they are using. I know  some companies are coming out with a better color line. Some are plant base some are oil based. If you are concerned do some research or ask the stylist.

I’ve never died my hair so it’s not too conflicting for me when it comes to dyes..but I’d say if you really can’t put it in a bun then go ahead but in a ventilated area

I've done it. Just open windows & run a fan if you have one in your bathroom. Just needs to be super ventilated. If you do it at home.

Personally I wouldnt due to the conflicting info I've gotten on it. Some say as long as the area is well ventilated, others say that you cant have the dye touch your scalp, and then there's the absolutely not people. Its such a grey area that I'm not comfortable doing it and better safe than sorry in my opinion.
