My goal has always been to make it 6 months if at all possible but I would love to make it longer. Definitely will cut it off at a year if we make it that long. That's also when we plan on starting to try for another baby so I don't want to still be breastfeeding if that happens.

This is my third baby. I breastfed my other two boys until 16-18 months. They self weaned but the last couple of months of that they would just nurse before bed. That is my plan with this one too.

I know some people think its strange to breast feed for so long but the older she got it wasn't more than once or twice a day and normally for bedtime/naptime.

I breastfed my daughter until she was 21 months old and she kind of just stopped on her own. I weaned her off nursing during the day around 18 months, and by 21 months she was sleeping through the night so we stopped. I might be a little more deliberate about weaning my son, since he's my last baby and I'm honestly so over breastfeeding. I had only a 6 month break between breastfeeding my daughter and my son (I was 3 months pregnant when I stopped nursing my daughter). I'm ready to wear what I want and not have kids hanging off my chest. So I'll probably try to get my son firmly on cow milk and maybe toddler formula after he's a year old.
