Baby shower

My mom said she wanted to throw me a shower since it is our first child and her first grandchild. We thought okay why not. She ended up making me do the planning and send out invites and whatnot. I'm grateful that she offered but I feel now that it is her way to show off to friends because that is how she is. The registry my husband and I created only has needs on it and has about 60 items. We bought a lot of stuff already that we didn't feel comfortable asking people to go out and buy. We also didn't put anything to expensive on it however with a week until the shower only a couple of items have been bought. I feel like we're going to have to buy everything and I'm hoping that we can return items we don't need or want. I feel like part of this is due to everyone being pissed at us for not finding the gender of the baby out. I don't have a good poker face and I'm just not looking forward to it.
