Longgggg Labor 4th child
I’ll try to keep this as short and sweet as possible.
This labor/delivery went nothing like we had planned or hoped for but this sweet baby girl was worth every second of discomfort.
I was scheduled for an induction on February 10th. Went to the hospital on February 2nd because my contractions were 6-8 min apart and at my Dr appt on January 30th my Dr told me I was 2 1/2 cm dilated and 60% thinned. They hook me up to monitors for 2 hours and because I didn’t have “significant” cervical change in 2 hours they SENT ME HOME! I live an hour from my hospital and doctor 🤦🏻♀️ Needless to say I was furious. I called my doctor the next day to inform her of what happened and they set me up an appt for the next day Tuesday February 4th. I go to my appt (still contracting) they hook me up to monitors and see that I’m still having contractions, she checks me and I’m 3 cm dilated and 70% thinned and at that point she decides to put me in the hospital and get me an epidural and breaks my water.
When they give me my epidural my blood pressure tanks (76/40 😳) and it takes them 2 hours to get my blood pressure back up and stable...VERY SCARY...I was terrified.
Once my blood pressure is stable I realize that my epidural on took on my right side...I can still feel my left side and move my left leg. Very uncomfortable so no sleep during the night for me. Then sometime during the night my epidural came apart and was running down my back and no one noticed until the next morning...by this time I was extremely uncomfortable and in pain. The anesthesiologist had to come back in and fix it and give me a bolus dose to numb me...again this causes blood pressure issues smh.
They finally hook me up to pitocin to speed things along. At 9 1/2 cm dilated I could feel my entire left side and was in excruciating pain...the anesthesiologist comes back in for a 3rd time for a bolus dose to numb me before it’s time to push...it worked thank God!
After 27 hours of labor and about 29 hours without food and over 33 hrs without sleep or rest...I pushed for 10 mins and our 4th baby girl was born!! 🙌🏼🙌🏼
