How does a scheduled induction work?

I have 4 days until her due date with no true signs she wants out. My doctors office said they wont let anyone go passed 41 weeks. So an induction would be scheduled at that point. How does it work? Do you pick a day? They do it for you?

I had an induction Feb. 14th and was 39+6. The doctor scheduled the day so he would be there.
We checked in at 3 a.m. got the IV put in and shortly began induction medicine around 3:30-4ish that morning. It was Pitocin, I also had antibiotics every four hours for being GBS +. I went in dilated at 3cm and by 4 p.m. that day I was at a 10 and began pushing around 4:45, she was born at 5:43 it was a long time pushing for me. They say some it works quickly for and others it could be the next day- I was lucky it all happened in one day. I also opted to get the epidural at 11:45 am that day at 5 cm because my contractions were very strong and painful, it was worth it. Good luck to you!
