How much help will I really need???

Question

I’m a first time mom that will be having a csection. People keep scaring me saying I’m going to need all the help I can get. I am very independent and somewhat private so I really don’t want my mother in law over here constantly but people keep telling me it’ll be absolutely necessary. Can someone give me an idea of who much help I’ll need or even for how long. My husband will be off and home for 2 weeks.

It really depends on your own recovery. I consider myself highly Independent. High pain tolerance, don’t want help, private. But my c-section humbled me. 
My husband helped me use the bathroom and shower for 2 weeks. I couldn’t walk without holding a pillow in front of stomach. I slept on my reclining sofa for the first month because I couldn’t lay down flat in bed....and I couldn’t do the stairs. I was in pain, sleep deprived, and moving slower than a turtle. I really resisted before baby was born, but luckily my mom gave me space but ready at the drop of a hat when I finally caved and called her for help. She slept over with me and my husband. One big slumber party on the recline sectional sofa with baby in bassinet one the middle of the floor 😂
You can OBVIOUSLY set boundaries with why you’re comfortable with but accept help when it’s coming from a genuine place. Birth is a humbling experience in all aspects. Don’t be a superhero-you can accept help if you need to!

I did it by myself my partner works 5:30 until 5:00 and I was alone with baby after having a c section, I was ok, I was still very sore but I managed just fine.
Like you I am a private person and very independent.

If your husband is off and home for that long and you have a normal recovery your should be fine. My husband was only off for two days and I had no help. I slept on the couch cause I couldn’t get in and out of bed.

I must be the one percent because the only time I needed help was stepping into the shower the night of the c section. Im also independent and I have a high pain tolerance. I was definitely sore for a couple weeks but I did everything myself. It was really hard bending over to pick stuff up but I also didn’t have a binder to help, it was uncomfortable to sleep but you wouldn’t sleep much with the baby waking up anyway

I feel like I recovered pretty quickly, but my husband did a lot of the leg work up front. He was home for 2 weeks. My mom helped a bit after that which was nice for transitioning to being on my own after that. 
I had good pain management in the hospital which helped me be on my feet the same day as my surgery. I was walking around a lot in the hospital, but I still needed help showering and using the bathroom. I couldn't really pull my pants up on my own right away. It was really painful when I sneezed or coughed. I did not use a binder, but I have heard others who swear by them.

It depends on you, I have a friend who recovered so well and really quickly then I know someone else who wouldn’t lift anything or drive for weeks and weeks so I think a lot of it is down to you as a person and how you recover xxx

I needed help moving the first 2 days the 3rd day was easier by 4th and 5th I was a lot more mobile. By a week I wouldn’t say I was normal but definitely independent.
