Did your cat stop spraying after being neutered?

So we meant to get him neutered before he hit puberty but then we moved out of state and for a 1.5 months my husband had crazy work ours so by the time we found a vet and made an appointment he had gotten really bad at spraying. Reeeaaally bad. Asked about spraying with his vet but she just told me some never stop. I tried googling it and it said most do stop or have a reduced urge to spray but what the vet said is leaving me discouraged. Did your cat spraying after being neutered if it was an issue before he got fixed?
