Question

Have any of you ladies been prescribed Clomid by your obgyn (specifically) without any testing before hand? I am becoming very frustrated with my situation. I have been ttc for 1 1/2 years, I am 26, my fiancé is 31. Neither of us have children yet. I have extremely regular periods, never late, never miss any. All my Pap smears have came back normal so my GYN figured she would hand me Clomid @50mg cd 3-7 with ONLY doing blood work on my 21st cycle day to check for pregnancy and progesterone levels. So far every month I have gotten positive ovulation tests at home and have also gotten very good progesterone blood work numbers (20’s to low 30’s) but my HCG is always negative. Now I’m 6 months in (6th and final round of Clomid) and she wants to send me to a specialist?! How are we skipping right to a specialist?! We’ve done NO ultrasounds, no semen analysis, no tube checking..... NOTHING! So if this was going to be the outcome I could have gone else where 6 months ago! 😒 I am really just curious to know if anyone else was handed this medication with no monitoring besides the monthly blood work? Not sure if I need to switch GYN before rushing to specialist (which I’m sure my insurance won’t cover and finance doesn’t have insurance). I’m feeling defeated ladies. This month I also had my fiancé taking fertileaid, I started daily prenatals, and attempted preseed. 🙏🏻

The day 21 progesterone + other hormone blood test was the main testing we did with my gynecologist. It showed that I was likely already ovulating on my own, but I could try clomid for a few months to increase ovulation (so hopefully 3-4 eggs instead of 1). So even though I AM ovulating, it should still be helpful🤞🏼😬 
We also did HSG that showed tubes were normal. And we are in our first cycle of clomid now, and husband also just did semen analysis.. if results come back normal we’ll stay on this plan. If not we’ll see urology & a specialist.

I literally got super frustrated and called a urologist in my area to do a semen analysis on my husband without waiting for instructions from my obgyn. He was seen within a few days and we got his results a few days after that (they were good luckily and that’s always nice to KNOW for sure without wasting any more time. 
As hard as it is, you have to take your own medical treatment into your own hands. Don’t wait for the doctor or else it may never happen ! Always ask questions. Some doctors are great and others are completely useless. I wouldn’t waste my time with any doctor that I felt just didn’t care.

Ask your dr to order the SA for your partner. It’ll be cheaper to have it done at a regular office vs the fertility clinic. Also, advocate for yourself and request some initial tests (bloodwork, ultrasounds, the test where they check your tubes omg I’m having a brain fart and cannot think of what it’s called 🤦🏼‍♀️) Insurance usually covers these tests to diagnose infertility, but usually the treatments aren’t covered.

With my initial diagnosis of my fertility problems, I was given ultrasounds tio check ovary reserve/ check for cysts, and bloodwork.  I don't have cycles at all though and was immediately referred to a RE  (which for me was another 2 month wait to get in). Has your hubby been checked? From the outside, all of your work sounds very normal!

I’ve been trying just over two years, am 28 years old and was given clomid without any testing whatsoever. My doctor did say my husband needs to go in for testing as well. 3rd round of clomid for me.
