6 weeks, is he feeding enough?

He drinks formula maybe every 4 hours, 4oz.
But in the evening and night he goes about 6 hours without eating. Then falls asleep again and goes another 6 or 7 hours. I'm very grateful for the sleep but should I be waking him to eat.. or worried he's not eating enough?! My mom said he'd wake up screaming if he was truly hungry.

I personally would not wake a sleeping baby. I did that and it backfired. As long as the baby is eating well during the day he’s fine

At that age he will tell you when he’s hungry, consider yourself lucky he seems like a good sleeper!

There is a book I found very help that walks you through schedule and feeding amounts for baby’s to toddlers Gina Ford complete sleep guide. It’s great guide line but you mama don’t forget that! If you think something is off then your most likely right

If he’s gained all his birth weight back and is gaining well there’s no need to wake him up.

If he’s gaining weight and everything else is good then there’s no reason to wake him up to eat he will tell you when he’s hungry. My son did the same thing I left him be and enjoyed my extra sleep he woke up when he was ready to eat

My girl is the same way. She drinks anywhere from 3-5 oz every 3-4 hours during the day. And she sleeps from about 9-10 at night to 6-8 in the morning. Her dr said as soon as she hit her birthweight to stop waking her to eat (she was about 2 weeks) I stopped waking her at 4 weeks, and she’s been sleeping through the night ever since. Babies will definitely let you know when they are hungry!
