Can’t treat teenagers like kids and then expect them to just be adults when they turn 18.  Plus, your kid will actually respect and trust you if you treat them like a responsible person

as a teenager (17) almost 18 in about three months i do believe that i should have privacy. with the exception of a couple of instances and situations my mom has always given me privacy. even after times i don't deserve privacy she still gives it to me for the most part. she's never asked for my phone password or password to any of my devices or accounts. never has followed me on social media to see what i'm doing or to just be nosy. for the most part she doesn't just snoop through my stuff and belongings. i do think teenagers should be able to have privacy because i think everyone deserves that to some extent but i would most likely have a different view and perspective on this once i have start having kids and when they are teenagers because overall teens do stupid stuff and should be monitored to some extent.

My mom and the rest of my family has been incredibly snoopy to me, my mom follows me on every social media and (when I had a dad) he used to go through my phone every night. I was never allowed to have guy friends or even talk to guys and I could only hang out with girls in the living room of my house with a parent in there. (And my mom had to meet their family) That led to me not having any friends for obvious reasons and I started to rebel and messed around with drugs and alcohol and stuff and hippity hoppity a few years later I have multiple eating disorders, I self harm, I’m currently in aoda (alcohol and drug abuse) for many drugs, I used to have sex with people for money to get back at my mom and so I could buy more drugs, I started running away and stealing, and sneaking out when my mom didn’t want to buy me things because “I wasn’t old enough” or it was “slutty”. (Basic things like nail polish) She constantly complains about me lying to her when the few times I came to her asking for help (with my problems) she either said it was normal or turned me down. I’ve been in and out of secure detention (juvie), out of home placements, day treatment, rehab, residential, counseling, therapy, intensive in home care (someone basically lives with u a few days of the week), hospitals, cps has been called, etc since I was 10. please please please please please, give ur kids privacy and they will talk to u, they will come to u with their problems and they more then likely won’t end up like me.

They get privacy as long as they deserve it. 
My husband has an 11 yr old and she gets privacy by having her own room. Being allowed to shut the door. And if I'm going in, I always knock first and wait for her to let me in. She has full internet access and is in charge of her own TV. She's never shown us a reason to believe she's abusing these privacies so we will continue to show her trust and allow her to grow into an adult.

I don't care if you're an insecure parent, forcing your way into your child's private life is DISGUSTING AND DANGEROUS. Let's not lie to each other, it's all about their teen's sexuality 😡🤢
Educate them about health, sex and respect and let them live. 
Once you steal their privacy you're essentially teaching them that they can't trust anyone and that having someone control your privacy is normal.
You wanna know how those kids end up?
They end up in abusive and controlling relationships with no self-trust or strength to realize that it's freaking disgusting ot normal.
Their partners just very easily take over the "helicopter mom/dad" role thanks to the 18+ years of constant fear and control provided by dear insecure mommy and daddy.
