This online community makes me hate my relationship with my POC boyfriend
I am white and my boyfriend is black. We have been dating for several months now. Hes liberal I think and I'm conservative and we are both in our late teens. I get on here and I see several posts dealing with a white girl and her poc boyfriend (The 3 posts im talking about the bfs are Taiwanese, black, and Native American) and the commenters basically bash the girls for being white. It makes me feel like we are still segregated and hating bright skinned people for no reason. My boyfriend and I had to find a balance. We often clashed a lot over politics and he would get hurt because I make very offensive jokes but before we started dating he knew that I have no boundaries when I'm making jokes. Last Halloween as a joke I suggested we tie a noose around his neck and I wear a white sheet & he started packing his things as a first reaction. I didn't understand why because I was ignorant to his feelings so I blocked him from leaving, grabbed his bags from him, and made him sit down & speak to me. After I heard him TALK I immediately realized what I said was fucked up and some things you just dont say out loud whether it's a joke or not. Interracial relationships are people from two different worlds coming together so of course it's gonna be constant clashing. I love my boyfriend but these comments to these posts make me feel so insecure. I think we are forgetting that the most important part of a healthy relationship is TALKING. So ladies, can we please start encouraging these young women to talk and establish healthy relationships? Some of you are 25+ attacking teenage girls and early 20 somethings for basically being their age.
