Can someone please explain to me why people don't stick to registries? 🤬

This drives me up the wall! I spend time making a list of things I need and for some reason most people just decide to get whatever they want. 
Do you just think you know better than me?
I don't want to clutter my house with a bunch of stuff I don't need! 
I hate surprises! Don't try to be original. I gave 2 registry options but according to the person throwing my baby shower people just went rogue! 
It was the ONE THING I ASKED FOR! Stick to the registry! I'm so mad

It’s to be expected for a baby shower, just because you know what you need and want doesn’t mean someone HAS to go out and buy it for you. They are spending their own money on you, and you’re being selfish. If you’re that unhappy about receiving free stuff then you shouldn’t be having a baby shower. Worst case, sell it off still in its packaging and get some money back but I think you’re over-reacting.

Maybe they can’t afford things on the registry, and have to do what their wallets can give? Or if they are older people, they may not even know how to look up registry stuff. I don’t know, I have a registry, but I wouldn’t be mad if people got me things that weren’t on it. You can always return the things you don’t like.

this seems very i ungreatful to me. with my daughter i made one and my mom got me 5 things off it. everyone else got me whatever they liked. mostly clothes and cute things. apt of people take the registry as a guideline. i personally don’t expect things on there to be bought, people pick what they like. it’s a gift from them to you. spending their money for a gift for you and baby. accept the fact that you probably have to buy what’s on your registry and move on.

I don’t think you’re overreacting- my aunt didn’t like the playpen I had on my registry so she bought a pack and play, which I don’t like the style of, hence why I didn’t put it on my registry. 🙄 I’m grateful but also like why couldnt you just buy the (cheaper!) thing that I picked out?!

Um you guys she came on here to vent not to me judged by everybody...she was prob frustrated in trying to organize things and realized it...she has a right to be frustrated she picked those things out with holes in dreams of seeing her little angel in it and now she’s not and may have to go and return things that she didn’t want in order to get the things she thought were priorities to her and her child...

I’m super picky on what I like and I don’t like others wasting money on things I probably won’t like or keep, this is the reason I don’t do baby showers but that’s just me.

This drives me nuts as well. At my shower my mom's friend clearly never looked at my registry, which fine, whatever. But then she had the nerve to complain that my nursery theme was too hard to find boy things for. When I had them. On my registry.

People are giving you gifts- they have a right to choose that gift. You are not entitled to control and demand what is given to you. May be what they are giving you is meaningful to them/ is more within their budget etc. I'll be kind and assume it was just a moment of 'preggo rage' and you really aren't that spoiled. But if this is how you really feel, I'd love to be a fly on the wall at your shower when you open all those gifts that have 'deviated' from your list! 😂

I agree. Especially because we are doing cloth diapers and I'm so scared I'm going to end up with a million disposable boxes and none of our cloth ones
