is it true that epidural can cause paraylsis?i wanted to get one but now im really scared:(

Sure but it's rare. I will say I had femoral nerve damage from the epidural with my second child. My foot was completely numb for months. I walked with a limp and couldnt carry my baby much less the carseat. I still have weird tingles and pain from it but its healed now. I refuse to have anymore babies but if I had to do it over again I wouldnt get the epidural no matter how horrible the pain is. It was truly the most traumatizing experience if my life. I cant even think of my child being a newborn because it makes me want to cry and my leg hurts. What happened to me is RARE but it does happen. The anesthesiologist didnt even know what was wrong. I had to see a neurologist (who told me his daughter is paralyzed from the epidural) to get a diagnosis. No complications with my first at all. You can always try labor without one and if it's to hard just get the epidural. The epidural is lovely despite what happened to me. I felt no pain and I just laid in bed chilling until it was time to push.

I’m sure. But you can read about anything and hear the bad from it. I’ve had two, will be definitely be getting another, no complications. There’s always a risk to anything.

I had no issues with the epidural with my first and plan on getting it with my second. It is a strange feeling, feels like someone is trickling cold water down your back. They give you a sheet to sign that goes over complications, of course they give it to you during hard labor right before they insert it lol not quite sure how legal that is but if you have concerns just ask your OB, everyone is different and there is really no way of knowing how you will respond or what your experience will be until you have it

It’s absolutely a possibility. I’m not trying to scare you, but anything being inserted into your spine can cause nerve damage or paralysis if it isn’t done right. I was told my entire pregnancy how great epidurals are and to get one, but I ended up having an emergency c section and had to have one. It caused nerve damage that was so painful I could only lay in bed for a few weeks. I also got a spinal fluid leak that caused a headache so severe that I could only lay flat for the first week after I had my son. It was so bad that when I tried to muscle through it a few times I literally couldn’t think and had to throw myself down on the bed. I would never have gotten an epidural if I knew that was a possibility.

I’d have this convo with your OB. 
Obviously there’s pros and cons with all kinds of things pregnancy related, and of course shoving a needle into your spine has risks 
I got one with my first and it was great, but I know someone who had spinal nerve damage after it and had to have a surgery to help/correct it

I've had two of them and plan on having a third with this baby. I had no issues or side effects when I went home. I know each one of us are different, but if you want one just talk to ob about your concerns. 😊

There are a lot of potential complications, however, many women get them with no problem. Most the women i know in person have had lifelong hip or back problems after getting them, which is why I went natural with my first and plan to with my second. Look into potential risks and get informed, that way you can make a decision you wont regret later!
