39 weeks - period cramps. Start of labour?

Question

For those of you that have already given birth, did your birth start with irregular period cramps and tightening of the stomach?
If so how long after these cramps started did you head to the hospital or that they really intensified?

With my first I was 41 weeks - had a sweep. That night I had sex with my partner and contractions started just how you described at about 1 am. I went back to sleep - knew I’d need the rest- and oohed through my contractions while I slept ( partner told me 😊). Woke up at 8am and they were closer together and getting stronger. I labored around my house, in the bath, yoga ball, swaying with my partner till 1130 am. My contractions were 3 min apart - got to the hospital at noon, was 3cm. Had my daughter at 3pm. 14 hr labor total. Pushed for maybe 20 min/ 6 pushes. My 2nd I was induced- 41+1 as well - he was a 4 hr labor. I cook em long labor really fast lol.

Answer

I was 41 weeks and was scheduled for an induction on a Sunday. Friday I woke up at 2 with period like cramps that never stopped, at 8 a.m I went for an NST and the tech told me I was actually having contractions. And by 7 p.m I was in active labor and had my girl 10:25 the next morning :) 
Monitor baby's movements and time the pain and tightening :)
