How do I go about getting a therapist?

I’ve been a major supporter of mental health, but never have seen a therapist myself... mainly because I don’t know how it works with insurance and how to go about finding someone who takes my insurance...how do I go about this? Thanks in advance!

psychologytoday.com !! You just type your zip code and it brings all the therapists in your area with their specialties/ what the believe/ a photo/ ect and how much per session/ payments they accept/ insurances they accept then you can just give them a call or email them for an appointment. 
Your primary care doctor can also give you a referral. I hope this helps! I had to figure all this out when finding my boyfriend one

The easiest way is google I think. “Therapists in X location who take X insurance.” 
You could also look up the website for your insurance, there’s usually a way to see a list of providers. 
Or you can call therapist that looks like a match and ask if they take your insurance.
