Should I, 18w pregnant, be volunteering at a shelter?

Question

So I'm missing our old dog, yet, we can't have one now, our house and our family aren't suited for a dog at the moment unfortunately.
Our local shelter was looking for volunteers to help walk the dogs.
And I'm thinking it might be a good solution in terms of me missing the interaction you have with a dog.
But I don't think I would continue after the baby is born due to time and sleep management so maybe the shelter dogs would miss me? Also I'm not sure wether it's safe for my pregnancy.
I've never volunteered at a shelter before.

I volunteered through my pregnancy but did contract ringworm from working there 😭 it was horrible to try to safely get rid of while pregnant.  You also can’t be in any areas where they’ve sprayed for fleas.  If I could go back, I would have stopped volunteering as soon as I got pregnant to avoid what I went through.

It's really not the best idea.
1.) You are working with largely unpredictable animals in a stressful environment. It's not uncommon to get bitten, nipped and scratched. 
2.) You will be dealing with some really sick animals that can transmit nasty things to humans. Ringworm, ticks, fleas, etc.
3.) You will be around excrement in the piles. The cleanup, the stench, the possible communicable illness....not to mention the high potency cleaning chemicals they use to make it stink less.
You shouldn't be around ANY of this while pregnant.

My biggest concern would be: 
Dogs jumping up on you, potentially knocking you down. 
The cleaning products that we used at shelters I’ve worked at when turning over cages is some strong stuff. Double that if it’s a dog that had a contagious disease like Parvovirus, ringworm, giardia, etc. Along with most kennels don’t have very good ventilation inside.

Instead of volunteering with the shelter where some dogs have not been vetted yet I would contact local rescues that do adoption events at pet stores on weekends and help with those. They always need volunteers to walk dogs and talk to potential adopters.

Totally fine! Have worked with dogs before! Just watch the cleaning products and make sure to watch about the dogs jumping on you/ knocking you down. Baby is very protected in you but dogs will be dogs. 😀🐾🐾😊

I’m a vet -tech & had 2 children all while working like normal around all of the hazards that are being listed. You can walk dogs if you want. Maybe when your belly gets bigger avoid the large & hyper ones if they bother you. Be sure to wash your hands & you should be ok.
