Can someone smoke their whole life and not develop lung cancer?

I’m only 26 and I have COPD and am on a steroid inhaler twice a day, I’ve been smoking for 15 years and I can’t breathe for shit. I feel like I’ll have lung cancer within my lifetime

Smoking greatly increases your risks of cancer not only of the lungs but in general. Genetics have a play in it. Still, any kind of smoking is still not recommended for anyone

Yes. Smoking is a risk for cancer not a guarantee.  Some people's genetics will allow them to keep mutations from spreading even if they keep smoking or taking other harmful substances

You might not get lung cancer but you are still damaging your lungs and heart everyday. You can get heart attacks, strokes, copd, you are also more often to get colds and the flu cause smoking messes with your immune system.  My dad passed away from lung cancer. He first got copd, then after that a heart attack that made him get heart surgery. Then a couple years later lung cancer and he didn't last too long after lung cancer. He smoked two packs a day and never quit smoking. My mom is a smoker and has heart issues. Shes 68 but can barely walk and take care of herself. She has to have a breathing machine to sleep cause she can stop breathing in the night. I hate cigarettes with a passion. I've never smoked cause I was around it all the time and I personally saw what it can do to people.

You may not develop lung cancer but for sure would have breathing issues. COPD, emphysema, or chronic bronchitis not to mention things like heart disease, strokes, mouth cancer, esophageal cancer, etc etc etc.
