Calling parents “ma’am” and “sir”?
What are your thoughts on parents who demand to be referred to as “ma’am” or “sir” in place of mother/mommy/father/daddy/etc.? It may be a regional or cultural thing but lots of my black friends called their parents that and I found it so odd. My mom (who is black) would never want that, however when I got in trouble my father (Indian) demanded to be called sir instead of dad. Thoughts? Will delete if not controversial enough.
