Is this normal? Please help!

I got the mirena put in the first week of January. It’s now almost March and I’m still bleeding. It’s heavier when it’s time for my period (which last around 10 days), and everyday since I had it put in I have at least light bleeding. The cramps are also the worst I’ve ever experienced and occur 2-3 days a week. Is this normal? How long did it take for your cycle to regulate and/or for you to stop bleeding/cramping?

All normal. The adjustment period is 3-6 months, so if things don’t settle down by then, discuss next steps with your doctor.

i got the mirena may of 2015, didn’t stop bleeding till almost august. it SUCKED but i love my iud. i’ve had it for almost 5 years and the obgyn said it’s good for 7 now. i’ve NEVER had an issue with thinking i was pregnant. i don’t get a period anymore. 1-3 years i’d get a period every 3-6 months and now i can’t remember the last time i had a period. it gets better!!! stick with it for 6 months and after 3 if nothing let’s up consult your obgyn! i love mine but hated the 3 months i bled 3-4 weeks out of a month but it was so worth it

The bleeding can last up to 6 months, but in most countries you can get a pill (bit like a reset) to make it stop if you're still loosing blood after 3 months. I got one, and it worked like a charm for me!
