Best convertible car seat for small car?

I have a 2015 Mazda 3 hatchback which is a smaller car. It's been perfect for me up until realizing after my little man grows out of the infant seat I'll need a convertible seat which tend to be huge. 
Anyone have a small car and any suggestions? I live in Canada so preferably brands approved for sale in Canada.

Britax Marathon is one of the most compact convertible seats in Canada, but I would also recommend Car Seats for the Littles as they can give vehicle specific recommendations. We use ours in a Canadian Yaris, and it fits okay. Most other brands are longer when rear facing.

I joined the Facebook group ‘Car Seats for the Littles’ to ask suggestions. I have a Hyundai Elantra GT which is pretty small. They gave me a few suggestions for smaller seats. This is the one I chose. Maybe join Th e fb group too for more suggestions
