Medicine for teething

My babe is 9.5 months and has his top tooth coming in. It’s started to break through the gym and his gums are really swollen. I usually give Tylenol when he’s having a bad teething day, but I know Motrin helps with pain and swelling for myself.

Is Motrin safe to give to help with teething pain? My LO hasn’t had it before and of course reading the warnings on the side of the box make me anxious!

Pediatrician said Motrin is OK since he’s passed 6 months.

Also why do we have to wait until 6+ months to give Motrin?
