Au pair vs. Nanny

I'm considering an aupair or nanny when both my husband and I return to work. Our son will be approximately 6 months then.

I'm looking for pros and cons of families that had an au pair vs. nanny or vice versa.

Did having an au pair live in your home bother you or did you find it helpful? Was is considerably less expensive? Where did you find the au pair (I live in the US)
