Folic acid??

Question

How much folic acid should I take while trying to get pregnant?​Is 5 mg good? Or i need more? ​The doctor told me to take It but when i went to the pharmasy she asked what dosage? So i got confused.

Melanie is right,l. I'm a Pharmacy Tech and I've done my own research on Folic Acid, as long as you have/had any type of renal disease (kidneys) then you don't even have to worry about taking too much either because its water not faT soluble so any excess FA will just go into your toilet bowl.

...and as much as Folic Acid is important, DHA is also super important in a prenatal vitamin because it helps baby develop a strong healthy brain!

Hi hf , the recommend amount is 400-800mcg (micrograms not milligrams) , I take elevit which has 400mcg of folic acid. Hope this helps:-)

I take 400mg a day ttc. When I fall pg i will ask Dr if to double it as mine and my SOs Nans have both had a child with spinobifida. Although I would love my child the same it's still best to take precautions x
