Dyson vs Shark vacuum?

I need a new vacuum and I'm having the hardest time deciding between a Dyson or a Shark. I want one of the stick ones but I'm worried it will be too small for my carpet. I have 2 dogs, a baby and a messy husband and I'm constantly sweeping and vacuuming. What is everyone's favorite?

I love dyson. They can be pricey but I believe the suction is better than shark. We have cats and it sucks up fur no problem. It comes with some great attachments too.
