The earliest you can get a real positive is 8dpo because implantation does not happen until 6-12dpo, and it takes about 2 days (or more) for the hcg to build up enough to be detected on a urine test. 
Most women won’t have implantation until 8-10dpo about 80% of the time, so most won’t have a positive until 10-12dpo at the earliest.
Some women think they did get a positive earlier than 8dpo, but that’s only because they miscalculated ovulation or we’re relying on the calendar or an app to tell them when they’re fertile instead of actively tracking ovulation themselves.
