Accept that you are raising an independent human being and let go of ridiculous restrictions like this. Two more years to legal adulthood - don’t ruin your relationship over something like this.

This is actually quite common has cursing has become a very social thing to do. I would talk to them, let them know how you feel about using words like that and leave it at that. It’s their mouth, they’ll use it however they want to. I’m the same, I’m not a fan of foul language at all and I’ll be sure to makesure my kids know how i feel and why i feel that way when they get that old. At least your kiddo has the decency to not use it around you so they DO respect you!!! Don’t be too hard on them.

I'd pick my battles. They're 16. Behind closed doors I'm sure they do a lot worse than say a few curse words. I wouldn't even do anything.

What kind of cussing? Like, just cursing as colorful language or saying “fuck you, fuck my patents, fuck the world”? 
Did they put the video on social media for others to see? 
What do you mean they aren’t “allowed” to curse...?

Be glad he doesn’t swear in front of you because alot of kids his age are swearing and there’s not a lot that can be done about it except sitting down and explaining to them.

It would depend on the context of how he was using them. I would talk with him for sure about it, even tho I’m sure you’re not completely shocked by the behavior since he’s 16...but I wouldn’t just pass it off because “that’s what kids do” as others are suggesting.
