Should prostitution be legalized?

My boyfriend said prostitution should be legalized because it creates jobs, if there’s lonely guys out there then they should be able to go to a nice place to get laid if they cannot. Also that the sex workers would get std and sti tested and it would be safer. Any consenting adult should be able to make that decision... I don’t really agree that much but idk. What do you guys think?

I think it’s stupid that it’s illegal and controlling people’s bodies. And like it’s legal for 20 year old women to sleep with and even MARRY 70 year old men because the men buy them stuff... But if the men flat out “pay” them for sex, THATS legal.......?
Also, porn is getting paid for sex. Why is porn legal and prostitution isn’t? So you can only have sex for money if the money is given to you because it’s also providing entertainment for others...? Makes 0 sense.

There are pros and cons. But the pros outweigh the cons. Because if it was legal there would be less human trafficking, prostitutes would be more likely to get help when they get beaten, they would get sti and std checks more etc. It would be safer for everyone. Really only reason it isnt legal is because people whom claim to be "religious" think its immoral and a sin. So yup

That said, prostitution is happening legal or not. Sex workers are easy targets for abuse, murder, and rape because they can’t report these crimes without risking arrest. Legalization would allow regulation, taxation, and human rights to fall in line with the ethics of the modern world

Well at first I agreed with your boyfriend and then I read his reasoning and my frown fell off my face and broke into a million pieces. Lol
So safe to say, I don't really love that reasoning even though I guess he's not wrong. 
Just thought for a second maybe he was a feminist & knew that legal prostitution would protect many women who would otherwise be horribly vulnerable and exploited. It should be legal so we can stop all of that associated suffering.

I think the job itself should be legal but I don’t think solicitation of it should be. 
Sex workers should have access to health and safety and by outlawing it, it makes it an incredibly dangerous industry. 
If we went after the people who generated the demand rather than punishing the supply, I think we would be making society much safer.
