I broke my own heart today.

Waking up at 6am, a little earlier than usual but I was 2 days late and was ready to take a pregnancy test. I did the usual pee in a cup, dip the test, and wait 5 minutes. Being groggy from just waking up I did not pay attention to the color of the test.

Five minutes came and I walked back into my bathroom to check the test. I saw two lines, one faint but clearly visible, this was something that I have never seen in the one and a half years taking pregnancy tests. My heart felt like it stopped, it was joy, excitement, then reality came back and it was heart break.

You see I took an LH test instead of and HCG. My tests are the same color, one dark pink the other lighter pink. This was a mistake I will never make again.

I also started spotting later in the afternoon, so it was once again not my time. It’s frustrating, heart breaking, soul crusting at some times having infertility.

Moral of my story is check your type of test before you accidentally break your heart.
