Fellow nurses?!? Contact precaution rooms

Our director of nursing is saying that we have to save our isolation gown and hang it on the back of the door. We only get one gown per shift unless it becomes soiled. Is it like this where you work? I am on a med surg unit.

Single use gowns? That would be super high risk of cross contamination and can’t imagine would be approved by your local health unir

Not on gowns that I've heard yet. But they're doing this with our masks. 😬 I had a neutropenia patient the other day and they made me use the same mask all day. We get one 50 count box per unit per shift.

Yes they are supposed to be  single use gowns. We have been throwing them away after each use. I’ve worked here 7 years. But now they are saying we are to go to the door when done with patient care ungown and hang the gown on the back of the patient door then walk out and then when we go in we grab the gown off the back of the door and put it back on.

Not single use at all that poses a risk to you and what ever facilty you work at could be tagged by state because that is a major violation. That is how infections are spread you dont get to leave the room without thating the gowns,gloves or masks off. And you samn sure cant enter the room unless all the gear is on.

NO. We get a new gown and gloves every time we walk into that room. If we walk out to help another nurse or CNA, we go back and get all new gear. You’re talking about the thin yellow gowns right?

Me and my 5 week old were isolated at hospital for a week with rhino-virus and para-influenza and they all changed every time they came in to our room. So that doesn't sound right.
