I ALMOST accidentally called my SO my ex boyfriends name. I was with my ex for 4 years before him. We were playing around and was trying to call him a brat instead I was very close to saying Brad... 😂 saved it just in time before it completely slipped. I was like braaaT 😳

So this actually happened to my husband and I when we were dating. We had just moved in together and had talked before hand about how both of us had only ever lived with one partner before each other, years ago. It happened in the first few weeks of us living together. He was almost asleep one night, and I remembered something I wanted to tell him about. I was like “hey babe, I forgot to tell you about something funny” and he lifted his head and said “ what, ***** (his exes name)”. And then he immediately sat up and apologized profusely. It didn’t make me mad. That was the first and only time that happened and we discussed it right then and there that living together is still new for both of us, and that in his sleepy state of mind, he accidentally said her name instead of mine. It’s something that he still feels bad about 4 years later. But it didn’t bother me too bad then, and it still is not something I think about. Now if it had happened repeatedly, I would be pissed about it. But in a half asleep state of mind, there was no reason to be mad.

Depends on how long you’ve been together. I’m not going to lie I’ve done it in the past to my current boyfriend. But I did it at the start of the relationships. Not because I still thought of my ex but I was with him for 4 years and sometimes it’s just out of habit. Hope that helps. 💁🏼‍♀️💕

my bf did it once. we had broken up for 7 months (after a year long relationship) and he dated another girl. 
he became friends with a few of her friends. 
well we got back together and one night we were texting and he called me by her name. 
obviously pissed, i asked why. he said he was talking to their mutual friend while texting me. he explained their friend called her annoying and that he was going to agree, which is why her name slipped.
never happened again, we’ve been together 5 years. never had any sort of trust issues. 
so yeah it can happen, just depends on why lol

I say if it's a problem and it makes you uncomfortable, speak up. Especially depending on how often it happens. If it was like a once maybe twice mistake, hmm okay it bothers you,let him know.    But if it's constant,then ya, that's a problem
