How many bibs and burp cloths do I need?

I’ve received about 8 hand-me-down burp cloths and bibs, and am trying to decide if I need to keep the ones on my registry. Is this enough? Or do I need more?

You can never have enough since they’ll use them for months. Messy foods, teething, burping. Go on and buy more if I were you

Burp cloths are awesome and I still use some with my 16month old as she occasionally spits up. I also use them to wipe up messes she makes. I hardly use regular bibs. I used some bandana bibs and plan to get some of these burp cloth bib combos for my next baby.

For food purchase two silicon bibs with the food catchers. They’ll save you from have to do laundry.

You never know how your baby is going to be. Some baby’s hardly spit up and some have reflux. My baby is a spitter and would go through several bibs a day. It was helpful to have a lot so I wasn’t rushing to do laundry. Plus, it’s nice to have a few to just keep in the diaper bag.

I have a 3 month old and I use at least 2 burp cloths a day. They get wet and messy so fast.

My 12 week old goes through 2 bibs a day from drooling & spitting up. Definitely keep what you can.

These are the best bibs in the world! For my first I ended up having like 20 bibs? Maybe more. I ended up buying more of the ones below because they are super soft and absorbent and the snap buttons make it adjustable (it has 3 snap buttons so you can make it tighter or adjust it as baby grows) 
Remember they eat like every 2-3 hours as newborns, and once they start teething (as early as 4 months) there’s a lot of drool. I have a bib I tuck inside my baby’s shirt , I call it the drool catcher. It helps keep the neck dry so he wont get a rash or a yeast, and when I feed him I put one on top, now that he is rather messy. The drool catcher gets changed like 4 times a day if not more.  I suggest getting some meant for feeding, they are plastic lined, and easy to clean. 
With baby #1 at about 4 months I had to use a ton of bibs because of the drool. Baby #2 has been drooling like crazy about the same month, but now at 11 months he finally has only two teeth so we have a long way to go drool wise.
Now burp cloths I had like 12 and I honestly don’t use them now that he is older unless its to clean his mess.

Depends on the type of bibs. Waterproof teething bibs are great when they’re teething, you can go through multiple a day. Feeding bibs I would say at least 3-4.

You can’t have too many burp cloths lol. You’ll use them for tons of stuff besides just spit up. My son is 18 months old and I still always have one in my diaper bag for spills
