Am I pumping enough?

Question

My daughter has been in the NICU 2 weeks so I don’t breastfeed I can only pump for her. I was trying to get my supply up at first so the nurse told me to pump every 2 hours for 20 mins. My supply has gone up significantly so my question is, do I still pump this frequently?
I feel bad when I’m busy and I don’t end up pumping for another 3-4 hours. It makes me feel like I’ll fall behind on my supply.

This is something that helped me. I’m four months EPing and now doing five times a day with no overnight and it works for me. Pumping is tough. If you haven’t checked out the Freemie sale I just got mine two weeks ago and wish I’d had them all along.

If you’re keeping up with baby, you can go down to 8 times a day (every 3 hours).  If you start falling behind her demand, then increase it again.  Have you tried to get baby to latch?  Maybe with shields?  My son was in the nicu for 2 1/2 weeks but I was able to get him off bottles completely by a month old and only on the breast.  It was hard work at first but soooo much easier in the long run!

I would keep doing every 2 hours and save the milk it won’t go to waste until she’s atleast 3 months
