Blood cutting in dream with ex boyfriend

So I had a dream last night that my ex and I were in the shower together. He took a knife and cut two X marks, one on each side of my chest. Then he cut a line underneath my sternum . He did the same thing on his body and basically things got intimate from there. I am wondering what the blood represents?! Or the cutting ?!
