Thoughts on genetic testing?

So i am 17 and pregnant. My mom does know and she is supportive but understandingly  sad I recently got the packet that i am required to fill out prior to my first OB appointment and am undecided on genetic testing. I wish to hear the pros and cons of it and how many of you lovely ladies did/did not/plan to/don't plan to. Any information or links to helpful information is greatly appreciated. 👣

Its just a blood test. Nothing to worry about. You are pretty young so if you dont want to, you dont have to do it. I decided to get one because of my age (33) and because it was nothing invasive.

I got genetic testing because my baby's father is adopted and we barely know anything about his birth family. I was 23 when I got pregnant and the results basically told me my approximate numbers concerning genetic abnormalities. I saw it as an extra help in order to prepare for my baby if any of the tests had come back positive.

I'm around your age, and I decided at first to go with the testing. But then I thought about it and decided not to. I'm still young and babies at a young age have a low chance at having a disability of some sort. If you do decide to get the testing I think it's a great way to get prepared for whatever is going to be sent your way. Whatever you do its your decision and your choice.
