Party to Celebrate Moving Up In Rank?

Question

-- All of my friends are either some form of Christian or athiest/agnostic. They all seem pretty enthusiastic about their own beliefs, but usually treat my religion as a fake thing I'm doing as some sort of teenage rebellion act (even though I'm 25, turning 26).

-- I'm going to become a first degree priestess in February and I'm VERY excited! I'd love to be able to celebrate with my friends that evening, or sometime around then, but I don't think any of them would be really excited about my excitement. And part of me thinks they'd just mock my beliefs here and there anyways. 
-- But I'd really like to celebrate this! For any of you in the clergy, did you celebrate every time you moved up in rank? What did you do? Should I even attempt to put a party together with my friends? Or should I just plan on spending the day alone with my teacher?

I would suggest inviting your friends and family but let them know that if they want to come it would be under the condition that they will be respectfull and supportive and that no negative comments towards your beliefs will be tolerated. They need to respect your beliefs just as you have respected thiers. They don't have to agree with your beliefs, they just have to respect them. If they start putting you down or trying to discredit your religion, I wouldn't hesitate to ask them to leave. You should be able to enjoy a celebration with the people closest to you without fear of being ridiculed. And personally I would accept nothing less. I hope everything works out for you and congratulations!!!

I am being consecrated in December as a deaconess, so am right there with you. I wish your friends were more supportive! :( I know I have friends and family coming to the consecration who are not Christian, but will be there out of love and will be respectful accordingly.

I definitely concur that a celebration is well in order - I would imagine it would be important to be celebrate authentically and maturely, so maybe only invite people you feel confident can get over themselves and be there for you?

I'm not a priestess, and I'm an ex Christian. For me, anyone who moves up in their journey as a clergy member is a WONDERFUL reason to celebrate. Not everyone is suited for the job, and those that are are usually quite special.

I'd host a dinner party and play board games.
