Daycare and Coronavirus?

Question

My daughter is 2 and her daycare is still open, would you still send her? They are taking all the cautions and have a cleaning crew come in after hours, I’m skeptical but everyone else keeps telling me they would send her especially since I’d still be getting charged. I’m 26 weeks pregnant and work overnights full time, my fiancé works during the day long hours, we put her in daycare when we found out we were expecting so I could get sleep since my always exhausted.

Personally I wouldn’t. One of the important recommendations is to cover your mouth when you cough and whatnot and kids just don’t do that. They lick things and cough in everyone’s face and have snot dripping down their noses and they wipe it with their hands lol. Because they’re babies and kids and they don’t know any better obviously. But yeah I’d pull my child personally but it is of course up to you. Some people don’t have any other options so you have to outweight the pros and cons.

As a daycare worker I STRONGLY suggest to keep your little ones home.. if possible. While we try our best to monitor the situation and have enforced a stricter approach when it comes to sanitation and cleaning.. realistically we can’t catch everything. 
Kids will cough and sneeze on each other and toys.. share toys after hands have been in their mouth etc. All the running around I did just today alone trying to wash hands and toys that I SEEN go into a mouth and I still probably missed some.
Another reason.. some parents will lie to the daycare during screening about their/ their child’s health. 
We are not doctors or nurses.. we’re not trained nor equipped to diagnose who has a normal cough/ cold and who could potentially carry this virus.

If you can avoid sending her, then I would just keep her home. The guidelines right now state not to go out if you can help it to reduce your risk of exposure. Also kids that age don’t know how to properly follow healthy habits like not coughing in other’s faces, regular was their hands, and things like that

Nope. Kids my not be as affected by this virus but they can spread it to others that are more vulnerable.

Yes I still send my 3yr old. Kids are not the ones getting this. The main brunt of infected people is  ages 60 and older. A customer of mine asked his relative that is a dr in Texas. Kids are not as risk getting it as they are much more immune to diseases than older people.

Pregnant women are now considered at risk for the virus, I’d be cautious. Obviously just try and keep her as healthy as possible and yourself if you have no other choice but to keep her in daycare.

The main reason why I'd pull her out is because you're pregnant. Pregnant women are now considered high risk in the third trimestre. Young children are thought to be the biggest vectors, most of whom are asymptomatic. Stay safe

Yes I still send my son to daycare and we have cases of COVID-19 in the area. The daycare is kept clean and they wash their hands. They have protocols in place. My husband and I are both in the medical field and we work, so our child goes to an amazing and clean daycare.
