Can someone explain please?

Why we didn’t have this big freak out with the swine flu that we are having now with coronavirus?
*with an actual explanation please ex. WHY and HOW is it worse? Where’s the evidence?

It is killing 8-15% of our old people who contract the virus.  
Young people walk around with it and have low or no symptoms, so they just spread it arround.  You can have it for weeks before you feel anything.  If you you even notice.  And some are not that lucky.
I have it (Seattle, Wa).  I have low grade fever and super mild chest tightness that I sometimes don't notice.  But I have been serving breakfast to the elderly for weeks at my job.  Now all the restaurants are closed here.  For good reason.
If you do get sick here, and you can breathe, you may go to the ER where jackasses with runny noses are trying to get tested.
If you can breathe stay home.

Well first very little is known about the Coronavirus compared to knowledge they already had on strains of influenza. They created a vaccine for swine flu within 6 months. They are saying we probably won’t have a vaccine for this virus until middle of next year. It’s also more contagious (twice as contagious I believe) than the swine flu or other strains of the flu. So in the months we’ve had the Coronavirus going around, it has spread much more rapidly and killed more than the swine flu did within the months that started. Which means we don’t have as much resources or hospital space or money.
