Confused on bloodwork results?

I’m 11 weeks and got my genetics test done 2 weeks ago. 
I on Monday I got an email that said I was a carrier of cystic fibrosis and my husband needs to get checked. 
He went in yesterday and today I got an email about Alpha Fetoprotein. 
Well the result was negative, but I’m unsure if these 2 things are related? 
Seems quick for a test result to come back?

Also, I’d check with your insurance for the cost of the test. My first husband got tested and then we got a bill for 700! My husband now was going to get tested and it was 500, so we opted not to. My mother has CF & I’m a carrier also. Just something to think about also, sometime they don’t tell you right away!

Not related. The AFP was still your test, that’s part of the genetic screen. Your husbands test probably isn’t back yet

The alpha fetoprotein (AFP) does NOT test for cystic fibrosis. Call the doctor and tell the to order the right test for your husband.
