Skip periods when I exercise

I’m overweight and not a marathon runner, but when I run 2/3 times per week 5-10k and push myself, my period is always late (50/60 day cycle). I’ve only done a very slow jog once this month, and my cycle was 30 days. This also happened the last time I didn’t exercise for a month.

Surely not exercising isn’t the answer!? Should I only be doing extremely low intensity workouts? Has anyone else experienced this?
