What is your employer's maternity leave policy? (U.S.)

I'm considering leaving a job I like with up to 10 weeks of paid maternity leave to take a job I could love (in public school teaching) but has no paid maternity leave (must use sick days, bereavement, and personal day cobbled together to receive any maternity leave pay). I'm super torn. What do y'all deal with in terms of maternity leave?

What kind of public school district doesnt give any paid maternity leave???? That's crazy to me. All schools around where I live (buffalo ny) are very generous with their maternity leave policies. I'm sorry you have to make this hard decision!

I teach in WI, in a union strong (well, post Act 10 strong) district. We can take up to a year unpaid. Paid you need to use up sick leave first, but after that and up to 6 weeks (8 weeks cesarean) you get 80% of your pay.

Where I work currently, you get 16 weeks paid leave, and you go out two weeks before your due date. So basically 18 weeks. After that, you can phase back for 8 weeks, where you’re allowed to work an adjusted schedule either part time or work from home a few days, whichever you prefer. With that being said, I have considered and applied to other jobs. Even though I could potentially lose this benefit, to me it may be worth it if I can be getting paid a more competitive salary.
My last job I worked for the state, and you had to use accrued vacation time. You were guaranteed 12 weeks through FMLA, but it would of course be unpaid if you did not have enough PTO to cover it.

My job didn’t have maternity leave, I would have just had to request time off unpaid. My husband has at least 6 weeks of paid time off, but he can add on to that with however much of his sick or vacation time off he wants.

My employer doesn't meet the requirements for FMLA so technically they dont have to do shit. But they would let me work from home at my full salary because the people I work for are amazing!
My last employers tried to fuck me. And tell me I didn't qualify for FMLA even though they hired me pregnant (5 weeks at the time) and agreed to let me have 10 weeks unpaid. I even contacted an attorney and in my state verbal contracts are binding. So I had a case but my employer gave me what I wanted (which is what they agreed too) I came back and we had a good relationship but I eventually moved on and found where I work now.

When I had my son, 2 years ago, there was no paid maternity leave. I’m a teacher. Now we get 6 weeks paid and then we can use our sick days. To get 12 weeks paid, with benefits. I was able to get paid for 10 weeks with my son, by using my sick days. He was 2 weeks late, so I got a doctors note for that and then had a c-section, which gives you 8 weeks that I was able to use my sick days. I ended up going back with negative days, but am back up to 14 now! 
I would say do what you love, you will figure out the maternity leave when it’s time!

We get 12 weeks unpaid FMLA. If our doctor signs off on short-term disability, though, we can use PTO, vacation, and sick time to supplement it.

I get up to 20 weeks paid. 4 weeks prepartum. 10 weeks post and 6 weeks parental. Disability pays partial and my company covers the rest.
