Let’s Advocate for Pregnant People (USA)

Bella

Hi all, I’ve been seeing that pregnant people have been designated an “at risk” population from Covid-19 in the UK and in several states across the US, which seems most prudent since we just don’t know what the outcomes are. My workplace told me they won’t consider my accommodation request to work remotely with on-call capabilities (I’m 6 months pregnant and work as a healthcare social worker, which could TOTALLY be done primarily

from home especially as we aren’t seeing any patients who have or might have the virus - so almost everyone). I was told this could change, and that more protections would be offered, if the CDC says pregnant people are “at risk,” and again since we just don’t know I don’t see how we aren’t!! It’s not a risk I’m willing to take with my baby and I’m furious that my job IS willing to take it - I wrote to the President and my state’s Governor, and plan to contact the CDC as well to ask that they take the UK and other governments’ lead to proactively protect pregnant people. CDC contact info is below - maybe if enough people reach out we could get more protection for the most vulnerable! Thanks for reading, sending love to you all and your families ♥️ I’ll put a template in the comments in case that would be helpful for anyone!!
