Should I be getting HCG blood work done?

Today I am 5w1d pregnant and my first appointment isn’t until April 7th. When I called my OB office, all they did was schedule my appointment but never mentioned coming in for bloodwork to test HCG levels. My question is should I call them to see if I can come in to get bloodwork done or is it normal for them not to offer bloodwork? It would definitely put my mind at ease having HCG levels drawn but I’m not sure if that’s something everyone has done. Thanks!

You only get HCG draws if you have history of miscarriage or are bleeding

My doctor only drew blood to see if my hcg was over 10,000 before attempting an ultrasound, due to my period not being regular.

Bloodwork isn't necessary. I've never had my hcg levels checked with any of my 7 pregnancies even with having had 2 miscarriages.

In my first ultrasound the gyno couldnt see anything and we were checking my HCG to see why...unfortunally it was an ectopic.

It's not necessary, plus they have to do it a minimum of twice for it to mean anything anyways.

I am on baby #5 and never knew about getting HCG blood tests taken. I found out by the app and then my doctor suggested it after I had spotting. It’s not typical to just get it drawn for every pregnancy without indicators that something is wrong.

The standard is to not monitor HCG with bloodwork unless there is a history of Miscarriage or issues. I only got it done because I have a history of an Ectopic. If they didn’t order it, they don’t need it.
